Core &
Context

Where modern movement meets fundamental form

Core is what we build — through precision, control, and a focus on proper breath mechanics, clients connect with their center to build long-term stability that translates from inside the studio out into daily life.

Context is the body you bring today, and the load it's ready for. By approaching your practice with intention and patience, the skill of body awareness grows, strengthening not just your movement but also your mind.

The Method

Not Pilates or strength.
Pilates & strength.

Most training picks a side: control or load, precision or power. Sessions at Core & Context refuse the choice. Reformer and mat work builds the alignment and awareness; progressive strength work makes it durable in the real world.

Pilates Precision

  • Reformer & mat work built on classical fundamentals — without the rigid mindset.
  • Alignment first. Creative, challenging sequencing that deepens body awareness.
  • Mobility & control that protect you in everything else you do.

Strength Training

  • Progressive resistance work drawn from bodybuilding, HIIT, and athletic conditioning.
  • Programmed to your day. Different aches, energy, and endurance mean the plan adapts to the body you're in.
  • Long-term load. Strength you keep — because balance is the key to longevity.

About

Meet Rachel

Rachel is a New York City–based certified Pilates instructor with 8+ years of teaching experience. A self-described rebel, she's dismissive of the rigid mindset of traditional Pilates, bringing a diverse background that includes aerial pole dance, barre, bodybuilding, strength training, and high-intensity interval training to her work.

That range shaped what she calls an exceptionally modern, athletically minded approach: classical Pilates form, fused with the progressive loading of strength training.

While keeping individual goals in mind, Rachel encourages clients to remember that every day on the mat will be different — and that it's our responsibility to develop a keen sense of body awareness, adapting movement to fit the body we're in today. Good things take patience; by mastering the fundamental skills, we build strength and mobility more efficiently and safely over time.
